Notre Dame alum Riley Leonard has first NFL passing TD

1 week ago 2

Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Riley Leonard threw his first career touchdown pass in the NFL -- and promptly gave the ball to his family.

Leonard, a rookie with the Indianapolis Colts, had run for a touchdown earlier this season, but he had his first passing touchdown in the final week of the regular season against the Houston Texans. He finished the day with 21-for-34 completions for 270 yards with two passing touchdowns and one interception for a 94 rating. He also rushed for a touchdown.

Leonard was the starting quarterback for Notre Dame during the school's 2024 run to the national championship game -- the Fighting Irish fell to Ohio State. The Colts took Leonard with the 189th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
