NFL Insider believes Brian Flores could be hired as a head coach

1 week ago 2

The head coaching career of Brian Flores ended in controversy, and the following stages of his post-head coach career have been unique compared to anyone else in league history. However, since becoming the defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, he has reminded everyone what he is capable of as a coach.

Despite that, he remains a name that gets the occasional interview but hasn't emerged as a finalist candidate for any jobs. With his contract set to expire, the perfect storm could be brewing for him to return to the sideline as the head coach rather than being a coordinator. ESPN's Adam Schefter discussed his potential to be a head coach this week on The Pat McAfee Show.

Schefter explained, "I think he (Flores) is in a good spot because that defense is very aggressive and very productive and his contract's coming up...if there's an owner that wants to hire one of those coaches and felt strongly enough about one of them, I think they do it."

If the Vikings were to lose Flores to a head coaching gig or otherwise, it would be a major blow to the team as a whole. The defense has thrived under his aggressive playcalling and schemes, including the ability to get the most out of players that Kwesi Adofo-Mensah adds to the roster.

Under his guidance, the likes of Jalen Redmond, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Jonathan Greenard have taken the next steps in their development. Without him, we are unsure of what the production may look like.
