Dallas County, Texas courts issued an order of first setting on Dec. 29 in the case of The State of Texas vs. L'Jarius Eusef Sneed, enshrining the date of Feb. 18, 2026 as when Sneed or his attorney must appear in court or else bond will be forfeited and a warrant will be issued for Sneed's arrest.

Sneed, the 28-year-old Tennessee Titans cornerback, was indicted in November for failure to report a felony stemming from an alleged incident in Dec. 2024 wherein a shooting took place outside a luxury car dealership in Texas. Failure to report a felony is a Class A misdemeanor in Texas, which are punishable by up to a year in jail or a fine of up to $4,000.

According to the first setting order issued on Dec. 29, either Sneed or his attorney will have to appear in County Criminal Court No. 4 at 9 a.m. The order of first setting is not a trial, but rather a pre-trial meeting where counsel can file motions for discovery among other things.

Per documents regarding the trial of Christian Nshimiyimana, Avi Ahmed vs. L'Jarius Sneed, John Doe, Tekonzae Warmek Williams, the proposed date of a jury trial is June 16, 2026.

As of Dec. 18, the courts have granted the request from the plaintiffs in Nshimiyimana, Ahmed vs. Sneed, Doe, Williams that Sneed: "shall serve full (and complete supplemental) written responses, and produce all responsive documents in his possession, custody, or control" by or before Jan. 5, 2026. This includes but is not limited to any and all text messages, phone recordings, social media direct messages and emails discussing the alleged incident, as well as documentation of communication between Sneed and Williams, documentation regarding Sneed's involvement in and communication about the luxury vehicles in question and documentation regarding Sneed's travel, whereabouts and relevant licenses.

Sneed is in the second year of a four-year contract signed with the Titans after the team acquired him in a trade with Kansas City in March 2024. Sneed has only played in 12 games across two seasons with the Titans, dealing with quad and knee injuries across his time. He landed on injured reserve in Oct. 2025 and has not returned to play or practice since, though he has been present in the Titans facility and spotted several times in the Titans locker room after practices.

Sneed is owed more than $30 million on his base contract over the next two seasons, but there's an out in his contract in 2026 that will make it easier for the Titans to part ways with Sneed for roughly $8 million in dead money against the salary cap.

The Titans (3-13) finish their 2025 season on Jan. 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars (12-4) at EverBank Stadium (noon CT, FOX).
