Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel says he'll be part of the team's search for a new general manager.

"I'm going to be a part of the process," McDaniel told reporters Monday. "The main objective and what everyone is counting is that we have a cohesive crew of people that are working in the same direction. So I'm happy to support all of that. ... I think we need to, one step at a time, improve the football team from the state that it's in."

On Monday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that McDaniel is expected to remain the Dolphins' head coach in 2026. The fact that he'll play a part in the team's hunt for a new executive seemingly confirms that.

“My understanding is I’m the head coach of the Miami Dolphins until told otherwise," McDaniel said Monday.

So far, there are reports of six candidates who have received a request to interview for the Dolphins' vacant general manager role. Three work in the San Francisco 49ers' front office and previously worked with McDaniel during his five seasons with the franchise.

In four seasons with the Dolphins, McDaniel has led the team to a 35-33 regular season record. Miami reached the postseason in his first two seasons at the helm, but haven't earned a playoff victory.
