The Michigan football program is putting an emphasis on depth in the quarterback room.
Just days after adding former Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, the Wolverines have added former LSU quarterback Colin Hurley from the transfer portal. He shared the news on his social media on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Hurley has spent the past two seasons in Baton Rouge but has yet to appear in a game. In 2024, he redshirted and in 2025 he missed time in the spring after he was found unresponsive but breathing following a single car crash around 3:00 a.m.

"Colin would like to thank the first responders, the incredible doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Health and the many Tiger Fans for their care and compassion," a statement from Hurley's family read at the time. "Colin is resting and is stable while more tests and care are being administered. We are confident that Colin will make a full recovery from this terrible accident."
Hurley was a four-star prospect coming out of Jacksonville, Florida (Trinity Christian Academy), in the class of 2024. He was originally in the 2025 class before he reclassified and arrived at LSU as a 16-year-old in January of 2024.

Hurley comes to Ann Arbor to likely compete for the backup job with Bryce Underwood, who is set to return, locked into the starting role. It will likely be a two-man race between Hurley and Fowler-Nicolosi. U-M saw a lot of turnover at the position this offseason with Jadyn Davis, Mikey Keene (Arizona State) and Davis Warren (Stanford) all entering the transfer portal.
