Michigan football continues to add to its special teams.

The Wolverines landed a commitment from UNLV transfer punter Cameron Brown, the program announced Wednesday, Jan. 7.

Brown comes from Australia, which has been producing top punters over the past decade. He averaged 43.8 yards per attempt on 46 punts with a 71-yard long as a true freshman last season for the Rebels, pinning opponents inside the 20-yard line 17 times with just three touchbacks.

Brown had nine punts of 50 yards or more but still needs to work on his height − he averaged a 3.6-second hang time, 12th out of 15 qualified punters in the Mountain West Conference. Michigan punter Hudson Hollenbeck has one year of eligibility remaining and seemed in line to return, but at minimum this will provide competition.

Hollenbeck averaged 43.2 yards per attempt in his first season as a starter but wasn't all that consistent.

Brown, 6 feet 2, 185 pounds, spent one season at UNLV and has three years of eligibility remaining.

This is Michigan's second transfer portal addition in 2026. The Wolverines also added Pittsburgh long snapper Nico Crawford under new special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs.
