The Arizona Cardinals must feel very behind. They are currently in the process of finding a new head coach after they set a franchise record for losses in a season. going 3-14 and losing their final nine games.
Finding a new head coach is not the issue. The issue is looking at the rest of the NFC West. While the Cardinals have a pipe dream of a quick turnaround to be competitive, it is hard not to notice where the rest of the division.

All three other teams — the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams — not only made the playoffs, each winning at least 12 games in the regular season, they are three of the four teams left in the NFC in the playoffs. One is guaranteed to be in the NFC Championship, and there is a chance that the NFC title game features two teams from the Cardinals' division.
And, looking at the division's head coaches, the Cardinals need to hit a home run with this upcoming hiring.
The division features two coaches considered to be among the best in the league with Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan, both of whom have led their teams to multiple playoff appearances and Super Bowls. In Seattle, Mike Macdonald helped the Seahawks become the league's best team in only two seasons.
The Cardinals' next head coach will enter the job way behind the rest of the division. The quarterback position is uncertain. A roster expected to be good was decimated by injuries and also simply wasn't good.
