Two athletes are being recognized for their outstanding achievements on the court.
This week, both a Redding Christian and an Enterprise high school athlete are being highlighted. It's time to meet the two Shasta Family YMCA Athletes of the Week for their accomplishments over the week of Dec. 29 to Jan. 4.

Collin Matos, Redding Christian
Redding Christian guard Collin Matos (#10) sizes up an Orland defender at the Anderson Invitational on Friday, Dec. 19. Matos finished with a team-high 13 points to beat the Trojans 52-34.

Class: Senior
Team Contributions: Lions star athlete Collin Matos was a two-way standout on Redding Christian's state championship-winning football team in 2025, and he's continued his athletic success on the basketball court. In the Lions' four games between Dec. 29 to Jan. 4, Matos averaged 24.3 points per game, including a 32-point outing in a 62-30 win over Mt. Shasta at the Jamie Angley Classic. Matos also scored 25 points to help the Lions take down Foothill on Saturday, Jan. 3. The senior shot 50% (22/44) from behind the arc in that four-game stretch and is quickly establishing himself as one of the premier scorers in the North State.

Cat Ahart, Enterprise

Class: Junior
Team Contributions: Enterprise junior Cat Ahart has been one of the most unstoppable scorers this season, and her 20.7 points per game rank second in the Northern Section. Ahart can easily get to the cup, pull up from midrange and knock down threes. In a win against Burney on Jan. 1, Ahart recorded 25 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. She followed that up with a 29-point game against Modoc the following day. Enterprise has jumped out to an impressive 11-4 record, and Ahart's scoring abilities have played a big role in the Hornets' success.
