LSU football OC Charlie Weis addresses New York Giants rumors

4 days ago 1

After social media rumors linked LSU football offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. to an NFL job, Weis shut down the narrative and reaffirmed his commitment to LSU when speaking to On3's Chris Low earlier this week.

Weis, a longtime assistant of new LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, has remained Ole Miss's playcaller during the Rebels' playoff run. Weis is a rising star and his profile is only growing after Ole Miss scored 39 points in an upset win over Georgia in the CFP quarterfinal.

The Ole Miss offense ranks No. 10 nationally, scoring 37.6 points per game. The Rebels are averaging 6.7 yards per play and over 25 first downs per game.

When Weis followed Kiffin to Baton Rouge, LSU made Weis one of the top-paid offensive coordinators in the sport. It would take a lot to pry Weis away, given his salary. If Weis finds the same success at LSU that he did at Ole Miss, the NFL will come calling one day. Or perhaps Weis remains in the college ranks and becomes a head coach. But for now, Weis is locked in at LSU.

LSU fans can watch Weis' offense on Thursday night, when Ole Miss faces Miami in a College Football Playoff semifinal.
