The Detroit Lions didn't envision their season ending like this.

After a monumental rise under Dan Campbell, Detroit took a step back this time around.

They missed the playoffs, and they weren't even still in contention entering Week 18's finale on Sunday.

Now, the future may look a bit different.

For one, offensive lineman Taylor Decker is "mulling" retirement, according to ESPN's Eric Woodyard.

Decker is a 32-year old offensive tackle from Vandalia, Ohio who played at Ohio State.

He was the No. 16 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Decker has played 140 games with the Lions.

Amusingly, he has three career catches for 15 yards and two touchdowns.

Decker's excellence has been recognized more as his career has gone on and the Lions have become a winning team.

He made his first and only Pro Bowl in 2024.

Woodyard's report also indicated that the gargantuan Dan Skipper may be moving on from Detroit, too. He's 31 years old, and it's not clear from the report whether that's an indication of retirement or just moving on to a new contract elsewhere.

Either way, these are a couple of well-established Lions, and if they're gone, the future will look a bit different in Detroit.
