Jarran Reed is channeling the past for Seahawks-49ers in Week 18

The Seattle Seahawks will play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 18 to decide the NFC West division title. The victor will also claim the top seed in the NFC, a first-round bye, and homefield advantage throughout the postseason. A massive playoff advantage will be on the line.

It's not a totally unfamiliar spot for division rivals. The Seahawks and 49ers played in the 2019 regular-season finale with the NFC West on the line. Veteran defensive tackle Jarran Reed is one of just five current Seahawks who were on that ‘19 team.

Reed reminisced on that game with reporters on Wednesday.

"That game definitely left a sour taste in my mouth," Reed said about the 26-21 defeat. "You don't forget those types of games, man. It's a big moment. We're not going to shy away from that. Everything is on the line right now. We know that."

Sunday's showdown is even bigger. Though that Seahawks-49ers 2019 contest decided the NFC West division, the No. 1 seed in the conference was not at stake. Reed was on the losing end of that showdown five years ago. He'll hope to help catapult the Mike Macdonald-led Seahawks to a better finish this time around.
