Tennessee is looking for win No. 1 in conference play tonight, set to host the Texas Longhorns at Food City Center. The Volunteers are coming off of an SEC-opening loss to Arkansas over the weekend, their fourth of the season overall.
The Volunteers missed several key free throws down the stretch, continuing a theme of the season. Rick Barnes has focused on fixing that this week, and the team will get a chance to show it tonight. Nate Ament is coming off of a rough game individually and Barnes badly needs him to take a step forward tonight.

Texas enters this one with a 9-5 mark in year one under Sean Miller. They’ve got one notable win against NC State while dropping games to UConn, Virginia, Arizona State, Duke and Mississippi State. They’ll come into a tough environment tonight in Knoxville, playing a Tennessee team that needs to get the momentum back rolling in the right direction.
The Longhorns by Xavier transfer guard Dailyn Swain, who is averaging 16 points and seven assists. Matas Vokietaitis, a legitimate seven-footer, is also averaging 16 points per game.
Texas ranks 52nd overall, according to KenPom. Tennessee ranks 16th after its latest loss.
