Barcelona continued their winning momentum on Saturday after securing a vital 2-0 win over rivals Espanyol, in a heated Catalan derby at the RCDE Stadium.
Although it looked like the game was heading for a draw, late goals from Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski ensured a crucial win for Blaugrana, who will hope for Real Madrid to slip up on Sunday.

Thanks to the win over Espanyol, Barcelona have reached a key milestone under Hansi Flick, breaking a previous record held by Tito Vilanova.
Hansi Flick breaks Tito’s record
After scoring two goals against Espanyol, Barcelona have now scored consecutively in 39 league matches, a new record for the club, reports Pedro Martin.
This means Barça have now beaten the record previously held by Tito Vilanova’s team: Scoring in 38 consecutive matches in the league.
This just goes to show the level of improvement Flick has brought to the team, especially in the attacking department.

The record is even more impressive considering that the late Vilanova had the luxury of utilising a Barcelona frontline that had Lionel Messi, David Villa, Alexis Sanchez and Pedro.
In contrast, Flick has had to revolve his attack around an ageing Robert Lewandowski. But he has played a key role in developing both Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, while stars like Ferran Torres, Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo have chipped in favourably.
Thanks to the win over Espanyol, Barcelona now hold a temporary seven-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid, who have a tough game against Real Betis today.
The Catalans have also scored 53 goals this season, considerably more than any other club in La Liga, with a goal difference of 33.
