We've been having some fun leading up to our 50th anniversary party, as Golfweek has been walking down Memory Lane with a number of former employees who helped make the brand what it is today.

We continue the series with one of the most recognizable figures from our past, writer and columnist Jeff Rude.

What was your Golfweek title, and give us a brief description of what you did.

Senior writer with primary focus on PGA Tour. Tried to report and write better than I knew how and put the most obtainable version of the truth on the page. Wrote news stories, game stories, columns, features, notes and did scores of "Hate to be Rude" videos. And, of course, I was only one man.

What's the one moment you're proudest of while working with Golfweek?

Being part of an independent magazine that got better and better. I can't thank Rance Crain and Dave Seanor enough for leading the way and elevating Golfweek into a respected national golf newsweekly and then website.

What's the 'hair-on-fire' moment you remember most vividly?

All those all-night writes sitting next to my late, great colleague Jeff Babineau at scores of major championships and other big events.

What's your favorite golf course you've played and why?

Domestic: Cypress Point. International: Royal Dornoch and Kingsbarns. Great courses with great seaside views that gave you the feeling you wanted to come back as often as possible.

(Editor's note: We appreciate all the former employees who have contributed time and effort to this feature. The golf journalism community is a small one and we're proud of the achievements of all our former colleagues.)
