Giants take dynamic WR Jordyn Tyson in latest Dane Brugler mock draft

There's so much going on in the NFL these days (playoffs, the coaching carousel, potential free agency) that the 2026 NFL draft and its endless mocks have been pushed to the back burner.

That doesn't mean they've gone away. In fact, they are more relevant and prevalent than ever. This past week, quarterback Dante Moore, a potential top-two pick, withdrew his name from draft eligibility and will return to Oregon for another year.

How does that affect the New York Giants, who hold the No. 5 overall pick? You'd be surprised. Dane Brugler of The Athletic recently published his mock draft and has the Giants grabbing a top playmaker, but they arrive at that decision as a result of Moore opting out.

With the first pick, Brugler has the Las Vegas Raiders taking Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. No surprise. At No. 2, the New York Jets, who were hoping for Moore to be available, do the smart thing and take a top edge rusher in Ohio State's Arvell Reese.

The Arizona Cardinals follow that up by taking the top offensive tackle, Utah's Spencer Faso, at No. 3. At No. 4, the Tennessee Titans grab Ohio State wideout Carnell Tate, reported to be a possible Giants target.

At No. 5, Brugler has the Giants taking a different playmaker to pair with Jaxson Dart and Malik Nabers, Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.

The Giants will be drawn, understandably, to (Ohio State DB) Caleb Downs’ potential impact on the back end of the defense, or to the chance to address their offensive line with Francis Mauigoa. But Tyson would add an immediate offensive playmaker who could help a young quarterback take the next step in his development.

Obviously, expected new head coach John Harbaugh will influence this selection.

By taking Tyson, the Giants pass up not only Downs but another top offensive tackle in Miami's Francis Mauigoa. But you only get one pick when you're on the clock, and Tyson isn't a bad one by any stretch.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Tyson is the younger brother of Cleveland Cavaliers guard Jaylon Tyson, who is telling the world Jordyn is destined for stardom.

Tyson appears to be everything the Giants want in a wide receiver -- a player who can not only get separation but fight for contested balls and make big plays.

The Giants are unsure when Malik Nabers is going to be ready to return from rehabbing his torn ACL, and they still have to decide on bringing back free agent Wan'Dale Robinson. The prospect of having these three on the field for Jaxson Dart is very enticing.
