Former LSU football running back Josh Williams has been waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud. Williams was signed by Tampa Bay after the 2025 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent. He appeared in three games this season, rushing for 11 yards on four carries.
Williams was suspended on November 11th for violating the NFL’s Performance-Enhancing Substance Policy, which cost him six games.

Williams began his career at LSU as a walk-on and managed to make it to the NFL. Hopefully, he can overcome this setback and find a role with another team.

As mentioned earlier, Williams began his college career as a walk-on at LSU. He was a two-star recruit when he signed with the Tigers as part of the 2019 recruiting class and first saw action in his redshirt freshman season in 2020.
Williams earned the starting role in Baton Rouge in 2022, where he led all LSU running backs with 532 rushing yards and six touchdowns, both career-highs for his time with the program.
Williams finished his time in Baton Rouge with 2,094 scrimmage yards and 18 touchdowns. He was ranked 33rd among running backs in Dane Brugler’s “The Beast” Draft Guide for the 2025 NFL Draft, with a UDFA projection.

Williams is a talented back and should be able to find another role, either in the NFL or another league.
