Foden 'back on track for one of best seasons' at Man City

Most people were understandably cooing over Rayan Cherki's performance for Manchester City at Nottingham Forest. The Frenchman is a class act who now looks worthy of a starting place in the side.

His goal and assist were always going to draw the attention but I, at least, was just as taken with Phil Foden's performance.

‌Ten goals in 23 appearances this season is hugely impressive but it is the sharpness, the vision and the overall effect he is having that makes me think that he could be back on track for one of his best seasons.

‌He will have to do that if he is going to claim a place in the England line-up at the World Cup. That area is overloaded with talent and he had fallen down the pecking order lately.

At various times he has been behind Eberechi Eze, Jarrod Bowen, Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Morgan Gibbs-White and that is before you consider wingers such as Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Anthony Gordon.

On this form, however, Foden could still make the starting XI, as long as he stays fit and hungry.
