The Florida State Seminoles got bad news just now, as promising edge rusher/tight end Amaree Williams has decided to enter the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-4, 236-pound Williams was being utilized (whether well or poorly, you decide) as a hybrid player at tight end and defensive end/edge rusher. The Seminoles’ staff seemingly couldn’t make up its mind on where to play him. Williams had two receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown and 10 tackles (two for loss) and 1.5 sacks last season. In his true freshman season, he appeared in eight games at tight end and notched five receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns.

This is a big blow for FSU, as Williams flashed great potential and was expected to be a significant contributor in 2026.
