Florida football expected to land Georgia Tech QB Aaron Philo

6 days ago 2

The Florida Gators are expected to land Georgia Tech redshirt freshman quarterback Aaron Philo through the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer.

Even though his sample size is limited, Philo's stats show a quarterback who was efficient when given opportunities. During the 2025 season, he completed 21 of 28 passes while throwing for 373 yards, one touchdown and an interception against Gardner-Webb.

Across two seasons with the Yellow Jackets, Philo totaled 938 passing yards, two touchdown passes and three interceptions. He was a three-star recruit out of high school, and as a true freshman in 2024, he was forced into action late in the year due to injuries, including extended snaps against Virginia Tech and NC State.

Philo led a late fourth-quarter touchdown drive that sealed a one-point win against NC State. He capped that possession by completing every pass on the drive and scored the game-winning touchdown himself.

Even though Philo isn't arriving as a finished product, he's a quarterback who has developmental upside.

A key factor in Philo's move to Gainesville is his connection with Buster Faulkner, Florida's new offensive coordinator, who previously worked with Philo during his time at Georgia Tech.

Philo may not come with blockbuster portal hype, but his production in limited action and comfort in Faulkner's system give the Orange and Blue another intriguing option as they continue rebuilding depth and competition at the position.
