Eagles' Jalen Carter earns himself a nice mention for an all-star effort

1 week ago 2

It's one of the oldest phrases in sports. Big players make big plays in big games. Jalen Carter is a large human being. Try six feet three inches and 313 pounds on for size. He's as good as they come, a Philadelphia Eagles legend in the making.

Injuries robbed him of a few games this season. That typically robs stars of postseason accolades. Hey, that's why Jalen Hurts didn't win the MVP trophy for his run in 2022.

Carter is so good that he was named a Pro Bowler anyway. In Week 17, he returned to action. He sacked Josh Allen and blocked an extra-point attempt. That's the second time this season that he has done the latter, and for his efforts, he has been named the Week 17 NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

It sounds wild, doesn't it? Who knows when the last time was that Jalen Carter held down special teams duty? Has he ever? Credit the Eagles, Michael Clay, and company for the wisdom in using the unit. Give him credit for accepting the role.

He's an outstanding talent, one who frustrates kickers as easily as he annoys quarterbacks. We've all said this for a while, and we keep repeating it. It's great to know that he's on the Philadelphia Eagles' side.
