Drake Maye or Matthew Stafford? Tom Brady reveals his choice for MVP

Former New England Patriots quarterback and current Fox Sports analyst Tom Brady revealed his MVP choice for the 2025 season. Is it Patriots quarterback Drake Maye or Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford?

Here's a hint: It's the one choice Patriots fans won't like.

"I think what Matt Stafford's done this season has been absolutely remarkable. 46 touchdowns--for any quarterback, that's a dream season," Brady told the FOX Sports: NFL crew. "He's been spectacular. Drake Maye, on the other side, has done some incredible things with Josh McDaniels in their first year together. Drake's got a long career ahead. I'm sure he's gonna have many opportunities. I would say Matthew Stafford."

Stafford and Maye have both had outstanding seasons with the MVP race being a tightly-contested battle throughout the year.

In the final week of the season, Maye didn't have to do much for the Patriots in a 38-10 blowout win over the Miami Dolphins. He went 14-of-18 passing for 191 yards and one touchdown in a game where the team leaned heavily on the rushing attack to pummel the Dolphins. He had a 77.8 completion percentage, which was his fifth-highest of the season.

Meanwhile, Stafford went 25-of-40 against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, throwing for 259 yards and four touchdowns. In total, Maye has thrown for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while Stafford has thrown for 4,707 yards, 46 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Brady knows a thing or two about solid quarterback play, and his explanation certainly makes sense. Patriots fans obviously want Maye as the MVP, but Stafford is having a solid season as well.

It’s going to be hard to choose between the great play of both quarterbacks this year.
