Dakoda Fields commits to Oklahoma after two seasons with Oregon Ducks

6 days ago 2

It is a chaotic time for every school in college football with the transfer portal being opened, but especially for the Oregon Ducks, who are balancing making roster adjustments while also getting ready for a playoff game and preparing to lose both of their coordinators. They’ve done a terrific job so far, as they are currently have a matchup set with the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff Semifinals.

However, the Ducks have a variety of players departing in the transfer portal, one of whom is redshirt freshman cornerback Dakoda Fields. He revealed his plans to leave back in November, and now he has finally decided on his next school as he seeks out more playing time.

Fields only appeared in three games this season, so now he will head down south to play for the Oklahoma Sooners, where he hopes to have a bigger role on the defense and make a larger impact.

It’s foolish to expect everyone to remain on the team, but this loss is still disappointing for a Ducks team that could have used Fields in the future. This makes it that much more significant that the school was named on the short list of the teams with a chance to secure a commitment from elite transfer cornerback Smith Snowden.

Everything is still in flux, with Snowden still having meetings lined up with numerous teams, but adding him would help to offset the loss of Fields. Oregon should buckle up, though, because this is just the tip of the iceberg.
