Cowboys' Week 18 inactives include rookie DB, highly-touted DT

Welcome to Week 18. For teams like the Cowboys and Giants, both out of playoff contention, there's little motivation to put forth a championship effort... apart from the technicality of ending the regular season with a moral victory. Losing the finale will, of course, help that club in the upcoming draft order, but both sides are nevertheless required to put a team on the field and run out the final 60 minutes of the 2025 campaign.

Exactly who comprises those teams today, though, could be interesting to see. The early-afternoon kickoff at MetLife Stadium will likely see a strange mix of superstar starters looking to avoid injury before getting pulled, soon-to-be-free-agents hoping to boost their stock before the offseason, and lesser-known bench players trying to make one last impression on the coaching staff in anticipation of next year.

The Cowboys had previously made a decision on several players, with Javonte Williams and Malik Davis being declared out on Friday. That should leave much of the running back duties to rookie Jaydon Blue, who has been a healthy scratch for much of the season and will be among the Cowboys players hoping to finish on a positive note. Fellow first-year ballcarrier Phil Mafah will likely make his NFL debut as well.

The cornerback group will also be one to watch in the wake of Trevon Diggs's dismissal. Rookie Shavon Revel, Jr. is inactive, but Josh Butler is questionable but should play, and Caelen Carson should be a full go.

Safety Alijah Clark is also among the Cowboys' inactives; he did not be with the team due to a non-injury-related personal reason.

Perrion Winfrey will also sit out the final game of the season. The former All-UFL defensive tackle saw time in only one game all year after an impressive training camp and offseason. He'll get an early start on looking ahead to 2026.
