Dak Prescott will start the Week 18 regular season finale against the New York Giants, but it isn't known how much No. 4 will play.
For most of us, one handoff is more than enough, and then let Joe Milton go the rest of the way.

But whether Dak plays a quarter, a half or more isn't known.
And that can be a little tricky to plan for, preparation-wise.
We know Prescott is as meticulous as it gets when it comes to preparation, so this week does offer a challenge.
Does his mindset and preparation change knowing that there is a real chance he doesn't play a full game at MetLife Stadium?
And what of backup Joe Milton's mindset?

“To some extent, yeah, there's a little bit to it,” Prescott said. “It's more of just, like win. So, for me, it's about going out there, plan to play the whole game, just stick to the way that I play the game. I'm not going to try to do too much early, make some big plays, so I can get out of the game.

"If he (Schottenheimer) said two touchdowns or three touchdowns or this score you're coming out, that may put a little bit of pressure, and me try to do that, but me not knowing when it is, just go in and play my game and be smart.”
And as for "Bazooka Joe,'' the young backup acquired last spring in a trade with the Patriots?
"Patience is virtue," Milton said. "I feel like if you don't have patience, you won't make it in this league, because you never know. ... If you don't have patience, you'll probably burn yourself out in this facility and in this job."
Added Milton: "Dak's been doing a great job of helping me.''

We can't see a scenario where Dak plays the entire game. Maybe not even a half.
Given the MetLife turf and victims it has collected over the years, we don't need another one on Sunday.
The smart play is to let Dak orchestrate a drive or two, then sit him and let Milton take the wheel the rest of the way.
There is no sense is doing anything more.
If it were Cowboys Nation's decision, Prescott, along with a host of starters, wouldn't even be on the plane to New York.
But Brian Schottenheimer wants to establish his culture, which means that No. 4 will be on the field Sunday, but for how long?
"Just be ready," Milton said. "I think that was the plan every week.''
