Commanders QB Josh Johnson is excited to go into the 'lion's den'

There isn't much that Washington Commanders quarterback Josh Johnson hasn't seen in 18 NFL seasons. The 39-year-old, who has spent time with 14 different organizations and is in his second stint with Washington, is expected to make his second consecutive start in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The game is in Philadelphia, which means it will be tough. Even though the Eagles have already clinched the NFC East and plan to rest some of their starters, emotions will be high on Sunday following the Week 16 brawl between Philly and Washington, which saw multiple players ejected.

While Johnson has started only 10 career NFL games, one of those starts came at Philadelphia in his second NFL season, back in 2009. Johnson was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he started the Week 5 game. He completed 26 of 50 passes for 240 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in the 33-14 loss.

Johnson is excited about the start and eager to embrace the challenge of playing in Philadelphia.

"It's awesome. Yeah, it's good to go into the lion’s den," Johnson said. "Love it, wouldn't change it. It's great to be able to have a game of this caliber versus this type of team to finish the season. So, I'm looking forward to it. I'm excited, football is going to played at the highest level. In order for us to beat this team, we gotta play at a very high level, and I look forward to us going out there and playing at a high level."

Johnson entered the Week 16 game against the Eagles two weeks ago after Marcus Mariota was hit and landed on his throwing hand, requiring stitches. Johnson played well in last week's loss to the Cowboys, completing 15 of 23 passes for 198 yards.
