The Washington Commanders ended their regular season on Sunday with a game against the rival Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles chose to play their backups, while the Commanders were forced to go with third-string quarterback Josh Johnson. The Commanders were ultimately able to do just enough to get a win, walking away with a 24-17 victory. With a 5-12 record, the Commanders are slated to have the seventh pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

During the win, a couple of Commanders made history. First, Terry McLaurin surpassed 1,000 career receiving yards against the Eagles, becoming the fifth player in Washington franchise history to do so.
Then, veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner reached 2,000 career tackles, becoming just the third player in NFL history to do so. The only other defenders to reach 2,000 tackles are Ray Lewis and London Fletcher.
Against the Eagles, Wagner collected five tackles, moving him to exactly 2,000 for his career. Lewis ended with 2,059 while Fletcher ended with 2,039.
It was clear during the season that Wagner had lost a step when compared to his younger days, but he was still a useful player. The veteran ended the 2025 season with 162 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, and eight tackles for loss.

Wagner will turn 36 before the 2026 season begins. It will be interesting to see if he tries to return for one more season to get the all-time tackle record. If Wagner returns in 2026, he needs 60 tackles to be the all-time leader.
