INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts have plucked an NFL regular off another team’s roster at the end of the season.
Indianapolis claimed rookie linebacker John Bullock off waivers from Tampa Bay, the latest acquisition in general manager Chris Ballard’s ongoing quest to improve the special teams talent.

Bullock, an undrafted free agent from Nebraska, carved out a home in the Buccaneers’ kicking game for most of the season.
Used almost entirely on special teams after making Tampa Bay’s 53-man roster out of training camp, Bullock was a “four-core” special teamer for the Buccaneers, playing on every unit and making 10 tackles.
It is unclear if the Colts believe Bullock can help the defense.
Bullock, a 6-foot, 230-pounder, played only five snaps for Tampa Bay’s defense this season, making him expendable for the Buccaneers, although Tampa Bay likely believed it could sneak Bullock through waivers at the end of the season.

Indianapolis always has room for key players on a special teams unit that ranked in the top 10 in almost every category this season, and Bullock will have a chance to compete for a role with the Colts this offseason.
