Clemson continues to stay active in the transfer portal, adding another experienced defender to the mix.

Old Dominion safety Jerome Carter has committed to the Tigers, giving Clemson another proven option on the back end of its defense. Carter put together an impressive sophomore season in 2025, earning All-Sun Belt honors after totaling 75 tackles and six interceptions, a figure that ranked among the national leaders.

Across two seasons with the Monarchs, Carter appeared in 25 games and recorded 98 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, three pass breakups, and six picks. His production and ball skills helped him stand out during the portal process, and he arrives in Clemson with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

A native of Lake City, Florida, Carter was a three-star prospect coming out of Columbia High School and held nearly 20 scholarship offers, including Indiana, West Virginia, Iowa State, and Washington State. He was highly productive at the high school level as well, consistently piling up tackles and turnovers.

Carter becomes Clemson’s third transfer portal commitment in two days, joining Penn State defensive back Elliot Washington II and Cal linebacker Luke Ferrelli as the Tigers continue to bolster the defensive side of the roster.
