Memphis Grizzlies rookie Cedric Coward registered a new season high in scoring and rebounding on Tuesday and joined some franchise legends in the history books afterward.
Coward finished with 28 points, 16 rebounds and four assists in a 139-136 overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at FedExForum. He went 10-of-16 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range, and was a team-high plus-14 in nearly 37 minutes of work.

The 11th pick became the fifth Grizzlies rookie to record at least 25 points and 15 rebounds in a game, joining the likes of Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol and Shareef Abdur-Rahim. His 16 rebounds are the most by a rookie this season, surpassing his own mark of 14.
Coward is averaging 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 32.9% from 3-point range in 32 appearances with the Grizzlies. He is fifth among all first-year players in scoring and is tied for the lead in double-doubles (6).
The 22-year-old has started the past 19 games for the Grizzlies, emerging as a key player on both ends of the court. He has showcased his versatility and poise already at a high level, enabling him to have productive outings for the group.

Coward has fit in well with the Grizzlies through the first half of the season and has earned the trust of his teammates and coaches. He has stepped up amid a chaotic year and is contributing in any role the team asks of him.
