Minnesota Golden Gophers cornerback Za’Quan Bryan will enter the transfer portal when it officially opens on Friday, first reported by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Bryan started 10 games this season and recorded 36 total tackles, one tackle for loss, three pass break-ups, and one forced fumble. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

The cornerback position was a persistent sore spot for the Gophers this season, as Bryan and redshirt freshman Mike Gerald both struggled at times, especially in zone coverage. The coaching staff even tried mixing in nickel back Jai’Onte McMillan and safety Aidan Gousby at cornerback. Former Iowa transfer John Nestor has one starting cornerback spot locked down next season, with a competition to come for the other starting spot.
