Late Friday, they announced that they've signed Karlsson to a two-year contract extension.

The deal will be worth $4.5 million total, working out to $2.25 million in annual average value.

“Linus has taken a number of big steps since joining our organization,” Canucks GM Patrik Allvin said in a release. “He has worked hard on his game, and we have been impressed with his development both on and off the ice. A leader last year for our Calder Cup Championship team in Abbotsford, Linus used that momentum and experience to solidify a position this year in Vancouver. We look forward to helping him continue to grow moving forward.”

This season, Karlsson has 16 points in 36 games, broken down as nine goals and seven assists. He also has 50 hits.

The 26-year old is 6-foot-1 and 178 pounds and has now played 63 NHL games. This is by far his best season in the league.

Karlsson is a native of Sweden.

He originally entered the NHL as a third-round pick by the San Jose Sharks in 2018, No. 87 overall.

Karlsson also has won the Calder Cup in his career in North America, scoring 14 playoff goals in 2025 for the Abbotsford Canucks to win the AHL trophy.
