Browns lose starting center Luke Wypler to a traumatic knee injury

1 week ago 2

Cleveland Browns starting center Luke Wypler exited the game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Wypler suffered a knee injury during the final quarter of play. Wypler was able to stand and limped to the blue medical tent with the help of the training staff. The Browns later carted Wypler to the locker room. The team immediately ruled Wypler out with a knee injury. The Browns named Wypler the starting center after Ethan Pocic suffered a season-ending injury. The Browns hoped their former sixth-round pick could develop into a starter. However, this injury will likely derail his chances this offseason.

Former third-round pick Zak Zinter has replaced Wypler at center. Zinter has struggled to see the field since he entered the NFL. He spent the majority of the season as a healthy scratch. He hasn’t looked good when he’s played. Zinter could be nearing the end of his NFL career if he doesn’t correct his play quickly. He’ll have one final opportunity this season to add to his résumé. The Browns must decide on his future next year.
