Broncos have faced a wild list of quarterbacks in 2025

You can only play who is front of you.

For the Denver Broncos this season, it's been a host of subpar quarterbacks.

The Broncos started the season by facing Titans QB Cam Ward, who was making his first NFL start. Three weeks later, Denver beat Bengals QB Jake Browning, who was filling in for an injured Joe Burrow. Two weeks after that, it was Jets QB Justin Fields, who went 2-7 as a starter this season before being benched. Up next, they beat Giants QB Jaxson Dart in his fourth career start.

Two weeks after that, Texans QB C.J. Stroud suffered an injury and Davis Mills took over in a loss to the Broncos. Denver beat Geno Smith the following week, and an injured Smith was replaced by Kenny Pickett in the Broncos' second win over Las Vegas a few weeks later.

Denver avoided an injured Commanders QB Jayden Daniels in Week 13, defeating backup Marcus Mariota. Last week, they beat Chiefs third-string quarterback Chris Oladokun, and they're set to face Chargers backup Trey Lance in Week 18. Overall, the Broncos faced a backup quarterback in five of their games this season.

Denver's opposing QBs in 2025

  • Week 1: Cam Ward (20-12 win)

  • Week 2: Daniel Jones (29-28 loss)

  • Week 3: Justin Herbert (23-20 loss)

  • Week 5: Jalen Hurts (21-17 win)

  • Week 6: Justin Fields (13-11 win)

  • Week 7: Jaxson Dart (33-32 win)

  • Week 8: Dak Prescott (44-24 win)

  • Week 9: C.J. Stroud/Davis Mills (18-15 win)

  • Week 10: Geno Smith (10-7 win)

  • Week 11: Patrick Mahomes (22-19 win)

  • Week 12: Bye

  • Week 13: Marcus Mariota (27-26 win)

  • Week 14: Geno Smith/Kenny Pickett (24-17 win)

  • Week 15: Jordan Love (34-26 win)

  • Week 16: Trevor Lawrence (34-20 loss)

  • Week 17: Chris Oladokun (20-13 win)

  • Week 18: Trey Lance (TBD)

To be fair, the Broncos did beat Mahomes, Prescott, Love and Hurts, but there's no denying that they've faced an unusual slate of QBs in 2025. That will continue on Sunday as Denver attempts to beat Lance and secure the AFC's No. 1 seed going into the NFL playoffs.
