Bengals could lose key part of Zac Taylor's coaching staff after all

The Cincinnati Bengals and head coach Zac Taylor don’t sound like a team about to make many, if any, changes to the coaching staff going into 2026.

But other teams could always force their hand.

The Cleveland Browns, specifically, could cause the Bengals some problems, with the AFC North rival requesting permission to interview offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher for their head-coach opening.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and others reported the news, with Fowler even adding the following: “I wouldn't sleep on Pitcher as a candidate. He has some fans in Cleveland.”

Like Brian Callahan before him, Pitcher was always destined to get some looks during head-coaching searches.

Pitcher is part of the contingent with a hand in the Bengals offense over the years and worked closely with Joe Burrow. Teams looking to ride the wave of offense while developing high-end quarterback prospects will look his way.

Whether Pitcher gets looks from other teams remains to be seen, but the initial reporting makes it sound like he’s a strong candidate for the Browns.
