Ben Roethlisberger shares advice he gave Steelers kicker Chris Boswell

After Chris Boswell’s failed PAT nearly resulted in disaster against the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger weighed in to offer the talented kicker some valuable advice ahead of the playoffs.

During a recent episode of the Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger podcast, Big Ben revealed some wise words he shared with Boswell about remaining confident, even after a situation like the failed PAT attempt.

“I know he’s going through some stuff right now,” Roethlisberger said. “I talked to him after the game and just encouraged him and tried to give him some upbeat advice on just staying confident, because I know right now it can be hard and he could lose some confidence. Just encouraging him and letting him know that at some point, they’re going to need him and, you know, to just keep doing his thing.”

With less than a minute remaining in the Week 18 matchup, quarterback Aaron Rodgers connected with wide receiver Calvin Austin on a 26-yard touchdown pass. Boswell’s PAT attempt was no good, giving the Ravens an opportunity to potentially win the game with a Tyler Loop field goal — but Steelers fans are gleefully aware of how that panned out.

Luckily for Boswell, new footage of his kick proves he wasn’t at fault for the failed PAT attempt, as Ravens rookie safety Keondre Jackson got enough of the ball to be credited with a block. Still, Big Ben’s kind gesture should go a long way in reminding Boswell of the future Hall of Fame kicker that he is — a specialist who could play a pivotal role in getting Pittsburgh its first playoff win in nearly a decade.
