Auburn football adds two more USF offensive transfers

The transfer portal cycle continues to heat up for the Auburn Tigers as two more offensive playmakers have announced their commitments to Alex Golesh and the program.

A day after landing two wide receivers who previously played for Golesh at USF, Christian Neptune and Kory Pettigrew, Golesh has landed two more of his former players in tight end Jonathan Echols and running back Nykahi Davenport.

Echols is a 6-6, 235-pound rising junior who spent two seasons playing for Golesh at USF. In two seasons, he hauled in 10 catches for 168 yards and four touchdowns. After making just one grab for 59 yards and a touchdown as a freshman in 2024, Echols took a step forward in 2025 by making 9 catches for 109 yards and three touchdowns. Outside of the receiving game, an area where Echols can truly aid Auburn is in pass blocking. According to Pro Football Focus data, Echols graded at 76.3 in pass blocking last season in 10 games. A native of Franklin, Georgia, Echols began his high school career at Heard County High School before transferring to IMG Academy for his final two seasons.

Davenport was USF's second-leading rusher last season behind quarterback Byrum Brown with 612 yards and seven touchdowns. He rushed for over 100 yards once last season, rushing for 121 yards in the Bulls' 48-18 win over UAB on Nov. 22, and he averaged 55.6 yards rushing per game. Davenport will be a great addition to a room that returns last season's leading rusher, Jeremiah Cobb, and redshirt freshman Alvin Henderson.
