Caleb Williams declares Bears are 'a team to be reckoned with'

Despite coming up short in their comeback attempt against the San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams believes that his team is a force to be reckoned with heading into the playoffs.

Thanks to the stellar play of Williams, the Bears were in Sunday night's shootout until the end, coming up just short in their 42-38 loss to the 49ers on Sunday Night Football, in what has been described as one of the most entertaining games of the entire NFL season this year.

In one of, if not the best, game of the season for his individual performance, Williams threw for 330 yards, two touchdowns, with zero interception and no sacks taken. With the offensive production on display at a high level, both the Bears and 49ers made NFL history in their matchup, which was the first time ever that a game was tied with the score at 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35.

After the game, Williams said, despite the loss, the Bears are a team to be reckoned with moving forward with the playoffs just around the corner.

"I think we've proven who we are," Williams said. "We'll fight, and I think we're a team to be reckoned with. I'm excited for this next game. I'm excited to go back and watch this film and figure out how we can do better, how we can put up more points, and how we can be more efficient on offense for moments like this. Because we may see this team again, and we may see other offenses again that are very similar and things like that. So like I said, I'm excited for what's to come in that sense. We're a team that's going to fight, and I think we've proven that."

The tone of this Bears team is far different than the one they had under last year's coaching staff in Williams' rookie season, and the change is clear as day with head coach Ben Johnson leading the way. With Chicago set to make their first playoff appearance since 2020, they have the players and staff to perhaps surprise and get the franchise's first playoff win since 2011.
