The Arizona Cardinals have begun the process to find a new head coach after firing Jonathan Gannon on Monday. The dismissal comes after the Cardinals went 3-14 in 2025, losing their final nine games and 14 of their final 15. He was 15-36 over three seasons.
A few names have emerged as targets for the Cardinals. One is Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals have requested to interview him for their head coaching vacancy.

Weaver has been the Miami DC for the last two seasons. While 2025 was not particularly good for the Dolphins defense, ranking 22nd in yards and 24th in points, Miami was fourth in yards in 2024 and 10th in points allowed. He was also defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans in 2020. He has been coaching in the NFL since 2012, spending time with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens in addition to his time with Miami and Houston.
He has coached defensive lines, has been a defensive run-game coordinator and an associate head coach.
Who are other candidates to replace Jonathan Gannon?
There are four other known candidates, as of when this was published. The other four are:
