Appreciation for Cooper DeJean's hard work reaches the national level

In the days leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, much of the talk surrounded the cornerback position. The Philadelphia Eagles were in dire need, but there was a twist. They had only taken three in the first round since the first selection meeting in 1936.

Roynell Young (1980), Ben Smith (1990), and Lito Sheppard (2002) comprised the list. As another April reached its end, it had been 20 years since a defensive back had been selected by Philadelphia on night one.

We all know how things turned out. Few thought landing Quinyon Mitchell was possible unless the Eagles traded up. No one thought there was any possibility of acquiring Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

What can we say? There was a run on quarterbacks, and as you all know, Howie Roseman's a genius. Mitchell and DeJean were Defensive Rookie of the Year finalists in year one, and they're now both Super Bowl champions. Recently, they were named Pro Bowlers. Their star continues to burn brightly as they save their best performances for the largest stages.

Cooper DeJean's fan club has gone national.

In Week 17, the Eagles traveled to upstate New York to face the reigning MVP, Josh Allen, and a Super Bowl contender, the Buffalo Bills. Tackling was something Philadelphia's defense did early and often.

Allen was sacked five times. DeJean posted a career-high nine tackles. Five were solo. After the game, the local media and national media couldn't wait to catch up with him. The young Eagles star was named Tom Brady's LFG Player of the Game.

He has stayed humble through it all, but it's good to see nice guys finish first. He deserves this, but anyone who has been paying attention could have seen this coming.

When someone intercepts a pass off of Patrick Mahomes' arm and returns it for six in the Super Bowl, people tend to take notice. DeJean keeps improving, and here's what's most exciting. He isn't scratching the surface of how good he can be yet.
