Apparently, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni does respect Dan Quinn

Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni voiced that he still has the utmost respect for Coach Quinn.

That would be Dan Quinn, head coach of the Washington Commanders, for whom Sirianni apparently has the utmost respect. Although Quinn probably felt much differently two games ago.

At Northwest Stadium on December 20, the Eagles, leading Washington 21-10, drove 80 yards to put the game out of reach for a possible 28-10 lead in the final minutes. So, when RB Tank Bigsby ran for a 22-yard touchdown, the Eagles were now up 27-10 with only 4:26 remaining in the game. The Commanders, being down 17, would have needed to score three times in that final 4:26 to have a chance of winning the game. Keep in mind, of course, the Commanders had up to that point only scored a mere ten points, and were down to their third-string quarterback.

So, why did Sirianni determine his team should go for two points, because 28-10 wasn't apparently good enough? He wanted it to be 29-10. Yes, of course it was the Commanders' job to put on their big-boy pants, get mad enough, and stop such a classless two-point attempt. The Commanders did not stop the attempt, and Sirianni went home that night proud as a peacock. The Eagles scored 29 total points instead of only 28.

Sirianni is choosing not to play for the No. 2 seed and rest his players, settling for the No. 3 seed in the NFC Playoffs. He is resting QB Jalen Hurts and some other starters this weekend against the Commanders. Sirianni now points to Quinn, saying he respects him so much. Isn't the truth, Sirianni himself, who stirred the pot, with his rubbing the nose in the dirt, two-point conversion when up 17 with only 4:26 to play?

"It's a marathon of a season," said Sirianni this week, explaining why he wants to rest some starters for the season finale, resting them for the playoffs. So, multiple starters are likely to be rested and not play against the Commanders on Sunday.

So the Commanders are going to face QB Tanner McKee this week and a few other new starters. Sirianni said Wednesday, "It's always about playing the next play and not letting things distract you..."

Sure, Coach, like telling your team to go for two points late when you are already up 17?
