Former Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Mbakwe has officially committed to Georgia Tech, per CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.
A former five-star recruit, Mbakwe struggled to make a true impact throughout his time in Tuscaloosa. Mbakwe's largest role at Alabama came during his freshman year in 2024, as the former defensive back was an excellent rotational piece in the Crimson Tide's secondary for a large portion of the year. The rising star then made the decision to prioritize the wide receiver position, as the playmaker was buried in the depth chart and was unable to find a true role on the Tide's offense in 2025.

Mbakwe could quickly begin to thrive in the Georgia Tech wide receiver room. The former top prospect was ranked as the No. 12 overall recruit from the 2024 class, as well as the No. 2 overall cornerback, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Mbakwe totaled just three receptions for 55 yards throughout the 2025 campaign, but the future star will have an excellent chance at thriving as a Yellow Jacket in 2026.
Mbakwe is one of many former Crimson Tide players to enter the portal over the past few days, as Alabama will have a number of new faces on both sides of the football in 2026.
