6 NFL coaches who surprisingly survived Black Monday

4 days ago 2

Black Monday 2026 is behind us, with six NFL teams looking for new head coaches and two looking for new general managers. The Atlanta Falcons are the lone team in both categories.

However, some teams speculated to make coaching changes have stood pat so far. A couple confirmed that they'll run it back with the group they have, while others operating in silence makes us think they're staying the course.

We've rounded up the NFL teams that haven't fired their head coaches as of Tuesday, excluding teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers (Mike Tomlin), Green Bay Packers (Matt LaFleur) and Buffalo Bills (Sean McDermott) who could hypothetically make changes at head coach if their playoff berths don't go as planned.

Let's see who they are and determine just how safe they really are at the moment.

Baltimore Ravens: John Harbaugh

As of now, Harbaugh is still the coach of the Ravens. He's almost been with Baltimore for 20 years, and he won a Super Bowl with the program in 2013. Even though Baltimore underachieved this season, it doesn't appear like Harbaugh and the Ravens are headed for a split right now. Coordinator changes could reportedly happen, however.

The Bengals shared that Taylor and de-facto general manager Duke Tobin would be returning for the 2026 season. Taylor got the Cincinnati job in 2019 and has led the Bengals ever since. He'll get a chance to win in 2026 now.

Indianapolis Colts: Shane Steichen

The Colts confirmed that Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard would return for the 2026 season after the 2025 season concluded. The team's hot start before quarterback Daniel Jones' Achilles tear helped a good bit.

Miami Dolphins: Mike McDaniel

McDaniel seems safe, as he confirmed on Monday he will be part of the team's general manager search. It's always possible Miami could change course, but the best guess right now is McDaniel will return to the Dolphins in 2026.

Glenn struggled mightily in his first season as New York's head coach, but all indicators suggest he will return for 2026. It's possible the team could make another coordinator change after firing Steve Wilks last month.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Todd Bowles

Despite missing the playoffs with an 8-9 record, Bowles appears safe and spoke with reporters on Monday.
