Zac Taylor was not happy with refs about Myles Garrett celebration

One would think the Cincinnati Bengals and especially head coach Zac Taylor have bigger things to worry about than Myles Garrett’s brief celebration after setting the NFL single-season sack record.

Apparently not.

The Bengals finished 6-11 on the season with Sunday’s loss to the Browns.

By far the most animated Taylor seemed on the sidelines, though, was when he ripped into officials for not flagging the Browns for the quick celebration around Garrett after sack No. 23 on the season.

Taylor had something to say about it after the game, too.

"I was never told they were going to stop the game." Taylor said, according to CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia. "I wasn't told they were going to do that. They never said one word about that."

Taylor added this in his presser: "We're playing for our lives here. I was never told we were going to stop the game in a critical moment…trying to get an answer wasn't easy, they (referees) said they had made a decision they would stop the game."

Maybe NFL officials should’ve given Taylor advanced warning, sure. Heck, even charged the Browns a timeout, perhaps.

But even for Bengals fans, it was neat to briefly see NFL refs show some grace for a bit of NFL history. That’s especially the case when it seemed like a routine play late in the game that they’ve seen Joe Burrow escape from plenty of times (make of that what you will).

Alas, these are strange things for Taylor to focus on during a loss to bad in-state rival during a lost season.

It almost seems to lend some credibility to the various reports that say Taylor’s seat isn’t warm, too.
