The New York Yankees and Cody Bellinger were a great fit.

His powerful left-handed swing fit very nicely in Yankee Stadium, making him the latest slugger to embrace the Bronx Bombers moniker.
Bellinger is a free agent now, and he's sought-after by a lot of teams.
He brings a lot to the table. Bellinger can play both the outfield and first base at an above-average level, which makes him appealing to a lot of clubs.
He's also going to be cheaper than Kyle Tucker but maybe bring a lot of the same abilities to the table.
The Yankees certainly want him back, and a new prediction by CBS Sports writer R.J. Anderson believes that they're going to get him, too.

"There's no reason to overthink this one either," Anderson writes. "Bellinger's game is a perfect fit for Yankee Stadium and he's coming off a great year with New York. Past reporting suggests the Yankees view the aforementioned Tucker as a fallback plan, making it all the more likely that Bellinger returns to the Bronx."

The only major concern with Bellinger may be that he played his most games in more than half a decade in 2025. He generally misses some time each season with injury.
There would also be concern about regression to the mean, although Yankee Stadium is so set up for Bellinger in the midst of a strong lineup that he may not actually regress.

The Yankees certainly wouldn't want to lose Bellinger and not get anyone strong in his place, so expect the folks in pinstripes to stay in this race, and any other they need to, to ensure their lineup doesn't get weaker this offseason.
