Wisconsin football landed a commitment from Iowa State transfer safety Carson Van Dinter on Saturday.

Van Dinter recently entered the portal after two years at Iowa State. He originally joined the Cyclones as a three-star recruit in the class of 2024, ranked specifically as the No. 1,487 player in the class, the No. 142 safety and the No. 12 player from the state of Wisconsin.

The Kaukauna, Wisconsin, native appeared in 13 games over two seasons with the Cyclones, 11 of which came as a redshirt freshman in 2025. He totaled 18 tackles and 1/2 for loss during that limited action. 247Sports currently lists the safety as a three-star transfer recruit. He's specifically ranked as the No. 852 player in the portal and the No. 87 transfer at his position.

The Wisconsin native joins a Badgers safety room that saw veteran starter Preston Zachman enter the portal following the 2025 campaign. The room will have snaps available, with 2025 starters Zachman and Austin Brown both gone from the depth chart.
