MADISON – Wisconsin got it quarterback Sunday morning Jan. 4 when it signed Old Dominion transfer Colton Joseph

By late afternoon, the Badgers found him some help.

UW added its first receiver of this transfer portal cycle, Shamar Rigby, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound rising junior who played at Oklahoma State this season and at Purdue in 2024. His signing helps fill a void left by the departures of Vinny Anthony and Jayden Ballard, who completed their eligibility, and the transfer portal losses of Trech Kekahuna and Eugene Hilton Jr.

Rigby ranked third on Oklahoma State in catches (25) and receiving yards (351) but he led all Cowboys receivers with at least 10 catches in yards per catch (14.04). He started the final nine games.

According to Pro Football Focus, he lined up wide for almost 91% of his snaps. At Purdue, where he caught 11 passes for 113 yards in 2024, he lined up wide almost 94% of the time.

Rigby generated those stats in an offense that ranked 128th out of 134 teams in the nation overall (292.4) and 114th in passing (174.1 ypg).

He’ll join a receiver room that will offer plenty of opportunity for playing time.

The only established starters/regulars are rising redshirt seniors Chris Brooks Jr. and Tyrell Henry, and Henry lined up mostly as a slot receiver. The team also added high school recruits Zion Legree, Keeshawn Tabuteau and Kash Brock, who are all expected to enroll later this month in time for offseason conditioning.
