LEXINGTON — Exactly what the first Kentucky football team of the Will Stein era will look like won't be known for some time. That's because the NCAA transfer portal opened for business Jan. 2.
There will be plenty of movement between now and when the portal closes Jan. 16. (Though players competing in the College Football Playoff national title game Jan. 19 will have a five-day window from Jan. 20 to Jan. 24 to put their names into the portal, if they choose.)

But that's it.
Unlike previous years, when there was both a winter and spring transfer window, this two-week span in January is the only time the portal will be available after the Division I Administrative Committee approved the change last September.
Of course, even before the portal officially opened, the Wildcats had players announce they planned to leave the program.
The most high-profile departure: Cutter Boley, the Kentucky high school star who cemented himself as UK's top quarterback last fall, starting the final 10 games of the 2025 campaign.
