Where Auburn basketball ranks in KenPom after defeating Queens

The Auburn Tigers closed out nonconference play Monday with an impressive 106-65 win over Queens at Neville Arena.

The game was the 40th-best game of the season according to KenPom, in terms of "dominance," as Auburn's win probability never dipped below 96.5%. Most of the dominance occurred in the early stages of the game as Auburn raced out to a 30-4 lead in just eight minutes of game time.

The win also allowed Auburn to gain ground in several categories measured by KenPom. Here is a look at where the Tigers rank in every major statistical category ahead of their SEC opener at Georgia on Saturday.

Overall: No. 33

Auburn is up four spots to No. 33 following its win over Queens. The Tigers are 50 points away from earning a +20 efficiency score, and rank No. 7 among SEC teams in the category.

Offensive efficiency: No. 16

The Tigers remain a top 20 offensive team according to KenPom, with a score of 123.0. Auburn continues to battle Alabama (No. 2) and Vanderbilt (No. 8) for the top spot in the SEC.

Defensive efficiency: No. 79

Auburn's ability to hold Queens to 65 points on Monday helped its defensive efficiency ranking. The Tigers are now No. 79 in the category with an efficiency score of 103.5, which is nearly five points below the national average.

Adjusted tempo: No. 172

Auburn is slightly above average in possessions created. Auburn creates 69.4 possessions per game according to KenPom data, three points higher than the national average. In Monday's win over Queens, Auburn created 73 possessions, scoring 46 times (1.452 points per possession). Auburn also has an average possession length of 16.9 seconds, which ranks No. 133 nationally.
