When can Jaguars coaches interview for top jobs? Who could get calls?

The NFL's annual coaching carousel is in full swing with nine franchises looking for new head coaches after disappointing seasons.

The open slots include: the Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants, New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders and, most recently, the Miami Dolphins.

Teams are continuing to evaluate their respective clubs, opening up the possibility of more head coaches finding themselves on new sidelines next season — including at home.

For the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team is not in danger of losing its head coach. Jaguars head coach Liam Coen has the team in the playoffs as the AFC South champions. Coen was hired after the team parted ways with former coach Doug Pederson last year as part of a seven-team coaching carousel.

Still, the team will be paying attention this year, as with success comes new opportunities for coaches with the team now. Both Jaguars coordinators — offensive coordinator Grant Udinski and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile — are expected to generate at least some interest from teams.

Coen addressed the possibility of losing one or both of his coordinators after the season. He said, ultimately, it's what you want to happen, but it's still tough for a franchise to go through.

"At the end of the day, you do want to continue to grow the game, and you want to surround yourself with good people. And that's what we tried to do here," said Coen, noting that the focus this week is on the Buffalo Bills and whatever comes after that, comes after that.

"It's hard. It's not something you look forward to having to ever replace. But I was really fortunate to be in that situation last year and you want to support those guys throughout that process, even though it might hurt you in the long run a little bit," Coen added, reflecting on the opportunity he got after last season with the Buccaneers to join the Jaguars.

"It might hurt you in some ways, but that's why we're in this profession is to help guys get opportunities to grow this game to be able to do those things and you’ve got to keep hiring good people.”

Mandated by league rules, coaches with teams in the Wild Card round of the playoffs can't interview with teams until the Monday after their Saturday or Sunday matchup.

So, the Jaguars will not get requests for their coaches to interview with other teams until after they win or lose on Sunday against Buffalo.

Who is Jaguars OC Grant Udinski?

Udinski, 29, has been one name that's swirled around the coaching carousel as a young, upstart coordinator. Udsinski is in his first year as a coordinator after operating as an assistant quarterbacks coach and assistant OC in Minnesota under HC Kevin O'Connell.

Like O'Connell before being hired by the Vikings, Udinski does not call plays in Jacksonville. Coen is the team's offensive playcaller, but has credited the young OC plenty for some of the team's success on offense this year.

"The detail of Grant, if you really look at the amount of time that he obviously puts into this thing, but also the amount of extra that we're constantly trying to push our players to do. I think that that shows up in some of the level of detailed execution and situational football," Coen said in December last year.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Udsinski is a potential name to watch as the coaching searches continue around the league, noting that a few looks wouldn't surprise.

As Fowler noted, Udinski turns 30 on Monday, and he could have a lot going on for that milestone.

Campanile, 43, has similarly seen success this season. Jacksonville's defense is one of the best at getting takeaways with 31 this season (second best in the NFL).

Jacksonville's defense is ranked in the top 10 in most categories, including points per game allowed (19.8, eighth), points per play (0.324, sixth), yards per play (5.0, eighth), and fourth-down conversion permitted percentage (35.48%, third).

The defense's greatest asset this year has been its run defense, allowing a league-low 85.6 yards per game on the ground. The Jaguars have not allowed a single runner over 75 yards this season.

The team isn't half bad against the pass, either. The Jaguars have allowed a completion percentage of 62.36%, the sixth-lowest in the league.

NFL Media's Camerson Wolfe speculated that Campanile could draw some interest. He spent years with the Miami Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers before joining Jacksonville.
