Western Michigan transfer LS RJ Todd commits to Oregon Ducks

With three-year starting long snapper Luke Basso set to graduate, the Oregon Ducks entered the 2026 transfer portal window with a sudden need at the long snapping position.

Less than a week into the portal being opened, the Ducks appear to have filled the spot that Basso is leaving vacant next season, as Western Michigan's RJ Todd announced his commitment to Oregon on Wednesday.

Todd spent three seasons as a Bronco, appearing in 39 games. The Michigan native will join the Ducks with one season of eligibility remaining.

Special teams has been a key part of the Ducks' success in 2025, with kicker Atticus Sappington and punter James Ferguson-Reynolds enjoying outstanding seasons thanks to the reliable snaps and blocks of Basso.

Head coach Dan Lanning is certainly not turning a blind eye to special teams early in the portal cycle, as the Ducks' first three commitments via the portal, including Todd, are special-teamers.

Former Nevada kicker Keaton Emmett and former Nevada punter Bailey Ettridge are the other commits that will be coached by special teams coordinator Joe Lorig.
